Who needs The Bachelor when you can marry your best friend?
Former Bachelor contestant Nikki Ferrell, who won Juan Pablo Galavis' controversial season, took to Instagram on Monday to announce the happy news of her recent engagement to longtime friend Tyler Vanloo.
In the days leading up to the proposal, Ferrell and Vanloo shared several photos and videos of themselves enjoying a winter ski vacation together in Colorado.
"And on the last day of vacation this happened! I can't wait to marry my best friend. Over the moon happy right now!" Ferrell, 29, captioned the side-by-side of two adorable pictures of her and her beau, also 29, down on one knee.
"A little New Years Eve snowshoeing through the San Juan National Forest w my favorite snow bunny. #winterwonderland #happynewyear," she captioned one Instagram.
Though it's unclear how long they've been together, Ferrell has regularly been posting pictures of the happy couple hanging out and traveling together for the last six months. According to the pediatric nurse, the two were friends long before their relationship turned romantic.
"Sneaking in a #tbt from a couple years ago to when this guy was my best friend and I wouldn't really admit to anything more...but we all knew," Ferrell wrote on Instagram three months ago. "#loveyoukitty #thebestfriend #immakeepyou."
According to his LinkedIn profile, Vanloo works as a sales executive in Kansas City, Missouri.
"It didn't end because we didn't love each other or [over] a lack of communication," Ferrell told host Chris Harrison during the season 19 premiere of The Bachelor in January. "It just ended because of a difference of lifestyle. There was a point we said we love each other, like in a normal relationship. ... We gave it a good try, but we're two different people."
The news comes over a year after Ferrell dumped former Bachelor Galavis seven months after horrified viewers watched him refuse to say "I love you" after picking her as the winner on the finale of the hit ABC dating show.
